I was flying in for this New York City wedding editorial five hours before hurricane rains were going to hit. To say I was nervous that this beautiful photography day in NYC was going to be rained out would have been an understatement, but thankfully, this cosmopolitan city is full of beautiful, covered spaces like the New York Public Library and the terrace at the Bethesda Fountain in Central Park.
New York City was...quiet. All night, the rain pounded the concrete jungle and flood watches were issues. Some roads in the city shut down due to flooding. Even as we were walking for our first location--the NYPL, it was still raining.
And it made the day amazing.
The rain kept streets empty and after we photographed the first gown at the NYPL and did a quick outfit change for our party dress, there was still minimal traffic on 5th Ave.
The best part of this day was obviously the fashion (hello wedding dress inspiration), but the second best part was how quiet it was in Central Park. I've never seen a public space so empty, and it created a special place in my heart for both city elopements & celebrations on rainy days.
Of course, it helps when your models & your team are incredible.
I was in NY to help cover videography and BTS work for the Make Pretty Workshop, hosted by Molly + Co and created by the most talented team of vendors. It was such a joy to work alongside this amazing crew.
This iconic day of fashion for the modern bride left my creative heart so happy and my jaw on the floor.
