I’m super stoked to finally share the wedding film from Carla & Justin’s wedding on the blog. It has been just shy of a month since their beautiful Presque Isle wedding, and, to be honest, I’ve had this loaded up here for a few weeks. With busy season in full swing, I’m really horrible at keeping my blog up to date. But here we are! And it’s better late than never, right?

Justin & Carla’s day started at a campground near the ceremony location, and this campground offered beautiful views! Rustic, but refined touches made the getting ready coverage a cinch and the location allowed for some amazing photos/video clips.

I was so excited to put this video together for them, and I am I so pleased with how it turned out. Maine wedding videography is amazing, partly because this state is amazing, but also because there’s something special about video. I LOVE photography and will always stand by its value as a priceless heirloom, but I’m also falling more and more in love with videography and I’m so excited to be one of the few videographers in Northern Maine. There’s just something special about seeing emotion change through video that brings a wedding day to life. The same is true of Carla & Justin’s Aroostook County Wedding.

The weather was perfect, the bugs were nowhere to be seen (if you know anything about springtime in Maine, you know that this is an almost-impossible feat), and Justin & Carla were SO excited to say the I do’s. One of my favorite moments in their film is watching Justin unable to contain his joy right before he and Carla are announced as husband and wife for the first time. Gah! I’m tearing up just thinking about this day all over again.

The ceremony was held outside at the Presque Isle Country Club. Justin & Carla both got ready at separate areas of Arndt’s Aroostook River Lodge & Campground. They rented a beautiful old farmhouse for the ladies and a quaint, rustic cottage for the guys. The reception location overlooked the golf course and featured sweeping views of rolling hills to the east.

Their day was filled with local touches and these two were blessed over and over again by the people who love them. I actually saw Justin & Carla at a wedding I was working last night and I think what I told them then hits the nail on the head. Their ability and excitement to love and serve their friends has been really evident in the way their friends came to serve them on their wedding day. Their day was full of sweet, thoughtful moments and beautifully-written vows. All of the reception decor was earthy and bohemian, authentic and true to Carla & Justin’s style. The entire wedding party even wore Chacos! Sweet is an understatement, but it’s the only encapsulating word I can think of.

Overall, the wedding day was beautiful. Justin & Carla Waters showed both their devotion to each other, but most importantly, their devotion to Christ through every aspect of their day. They love each other sweetly and gently, and I can’t wait to see where their journey takes them and the lives they will continue to touch.

Much love,

Kay

P.S.

Below are some still frames of my favorite shots from the video, in case you don’t have time to watch the whole thing, but I 10/10 recommend scrolling to the bottom and watching the beautiful snapshot below.

Sunstone villa flanked by olive trees--a wedding venue in Santa Ynez, Calfornia built with old-world, European charm

In the world of California venues, there are many that take your breath and offer a luxurious space to enjoy your day. Sunstone is one of the most iconic. Noted for it’s old-world charm and homey interior, this space feels less like you’re getting married at an estate and more like you’re getting married at home. Your very, very beautiful, Tuscan-inspired home.

Nestled just to the east of the Napa River, this beautiful resort is home to a variety of modern farmhouse-inspired suites and bungalows, intermixed through the grape vines. Guests enjoy the privacy of their own lodgings with the ease of a weekend together, making this spot an ideal home base for a weekend of festivities. Accessible from three airports, Oakland, San Francisco, and Sacramento, Stanly Ranch is ideal for relaxed destination weddings.

As a wedding photographer, I am asked over and over how much film I shot at weddings, etc. Short answer? I wasn’t. But now I think this is a small joy I’ll continue granting myself.
