Brides! What a wild year. From Australian wildfires to murder hornets to a global pandemic, 2020 has shaken the world with its arrival. Here in Maine, we have an expression that usually tells us the trajectory of March’s weather: in like a lion, out like a lamb. I’m hoping that phrase applies to the…well…entire year this time. Of course, our attitudes can determine a lot of the situations we wind up in, despite shaken plans. Particularly damaged were event plans. If you’re reading this, you or a friend of yours has probably had your wedding plans be immediately impacted by the virus and the safety measures instituted because of it. But that doesn’t mean the rest of 2020 is ruined!
Au contraire!
There are a few ways to spice up 2020 and celebrate the love you have, despite canceled wedding plans because of COVID-19. If the pandemic has fried your brain cells, don’t worry. I’ve make a short list of simple ideas you can do to make your summer a little extra special.
Get Married
You can still get married! Elope! Hit up town hall! Do the thing! Planning a wedding is a lot of work, and I know it is crushing to postpone your day. But guess what!? Now you have more time to add those extra details you didn’t have before or save for the honeymoon of your dreams. In the meantime, you can still say forever to someone and make it official. Love isn’t canceled and your marriage doesn’t have to be either.
Get Cake
Let’s be honest. Dessert fixes almost everything. Contact your baker and ask for a cake or cookies or macaroons! A few of my favorites are Village Baking Co., Bear Brook Bakery, and Confectionately Yours! Use this as a chance to resample some of your favorite flavors. Light some candles in the kitchen, put on a record, wear some fancy clothes and have a private engagement party for you and your love. I honestly can’t think of a better date night.
Throw a Party
You guys know I love a good celebration. So maybe you aren’t getting married on your original date. Throw an engagement party instead! Have some friends over for a backyard BBQ, pop the bubbly, and get some laughter in. Lord knows we could all use a little more of that right now. And while you’re having an engagement party, see #2.
Still-Engaged Engagement Session
Okay, so you were going to be fabulous and now the wedding is on pause. No biggie! You can still treat yourself to a little luxury and have your engagement photos taken again. An engagement photographer knows how to make you feel stunning and with the help of the B&P Media Style Guide, your outfits will be on point. One of my favorite things about 2020 engagement sessions? They include hand-tied bouquets. Because we can all use a little extra love right now. If you’re looking to feel a little glamorous and have your engagement photos done again, reach out! Availability is always limited, but I can definitely get you in.
Get a Puppy
Okay, so this one is kind of a joke. But. Come on. Everyone knows that puppies are good for the soul.
I know this wedding season has been one for the books, but rest assured that there are ways to celebrate your love for each other. Any wedding photographer will tell you that your romance is what really makes the photos. That romance can carry through another year of loving on each other. I’ll be here to capture it whenever you need me.
Sending lots of hugs and love your way.
Kay
