As with the rest of 2020, August was an uncertain month. Sara & Andrew’s original wedding plans were changed due to COVID-19, and while their garden wedding wasn’t possible, we got to spend a couple of hours on a perfect summer day in one of my favorite places in Maine: Acadia National Park.

It was really important for these two to still share their elopement ceremony with family and friends. Weddings in the park require permits unless you have under a 10 people, but not if you use video calling. If you’ve ever been to Acadia, you know that service is limited. However, on the ledges between Otter Cliffs and Thunder Hole, a sliver of service existed and was just enough to connect to Zoom for Sara & Andrew’s ceremony.

An adorable first look, stunning ceremony, and joyful trip to Jordan Pond and Cadillac Mountain later, we wrapped up their quick afternoon celebration and they were off to a reception dinner in Bar Harbor. I really can’t think of a better way to spend a Saturday as a wedding photographer.

Within the state of Maine, I genuinely don’t know of a better place for a wild, coastal elopement or micro wedding, and am so excited to have a couple more on my calendar for this fall. Andrew & Sara’s day was gorgeous and I’m so glad they trusted me with capturing these moments.
