It’s not every season that we get a couple with such contagious smiles. But, S&M were high school sweethearts. They’ve seen each other through their whole lives, a decade plus of soccer games, college classes, and family barbecues. They’re as much a part of one another as is breathing. They’re natural, easy, and so, so right. So smiling, of course, comes easy.

Wedding Day

Saying yes to the rest of their lives together surprised no one. They are and were and always seemed to be destined for each other. So dreams unfolded of a day with their friends on the lake where they grew up. While a wedding in Northern Maine was logistically demanding, Bar Harbor, the seaside village on the edge of Acadia National Park, is home to another favorite body of water–the Atlantic Ocean. So there they ventured to celebrate this newest milestone with their closest family and friends. Nestled into the midcoast of Maine, Bar Harbor’s summer landscape never disappoints and in the quaint village itself is the Stone House, an English cottage where the views fall into the sea and the setting sun dapples the lawn in a golden glow.

Usually. This day, however, was not a day where the forecast wanted to cooperate. Storm clouds loomed, dark and foreboding, and the gentle patter of rain could be heard at random. But as they got ready, laughter escaping the window cracks, the sky began to mend. And when M stepped outside, radiant as ever, gown flowing behind her, I swear the clouds smiled.

The most stunning of days, with the clouds pulling back only to peek back in, desperate to be a part of the joy, M&S tied the knot. Encircled by loved ones, their oceanfront vows were drenched in sun. The ocean holds its own power, its own romance. And on the craggy coastline here, there is not much adornment needed. So S&M opted for a timeless aesthetic of pearl and champagne, which followed them into their reception at the Stone House, a venue on the edge of the Bar Harbor Regency, fresh blooms spilling from every pathway.
